Disrupt J20 appear to have been caught on film discussing an alleged plot to set off stink bombs to evacuate the inauguration ceremony and stop the Republican being sworn in.
Plans reportedly included blockading major streets with fake charity stalls, pretending to be collecting money for the homeless, to force traffic to grind to a halt.
Activists allegedly from Disrupt J20 were filmed talking about using chains to tether metro carriages to stations, disrupting Washington DC’s transport network.
One activist leader is captured on the Project Veritas video, filmed by the Washington Examiner, saying: “So simultaneous to the checkpoint blockades in the morning, we are also doing a series of cluster***k blockades, where we are going to try to blockade all the major ingress points into the city.”
Another alleged voice recording states: “So we figured out this, um, the trains pull up, one person is going to lock one end of a chain to an edge, and on the other end of the chain the end of the car, so on and so forth, done.
“It takes 15 seconds and everyone can leave and literally it can’t go anywhere at that point, its anchored. And you can use a really thin chain — you don’t need a heavy chain — that would require like a bolt cutter to undo, basically to shut down that line … Metro Center, Gallery Place, and L’Enfant Plaza, they are all close enough to walk to and that’s every single line in the city.”
Protesters did try to ruin Donald Trump's inauguration in Washington DC
An unusual plan included posing as a yoga class in a nearby park to move their army of protesters into position.
Disrupt J20’s organisers told Washington radio station WTOP they are expecting 5,000 protesters at Mr Trump’s inauguration today.
ANSWER (Act Now to Stop War and End Racism) Coalition is also planning to hold a protest starting at the Navy Memorial.
ANSWER’s website describes the rally as a “massive demonstration” along Pennsylvania Avenue with “progressives” coming to D.C. from around the country.
Police made arrests and the inauguration ran smoothly in theend
The group has called Mr Trump a “racist, sexist bigot.”
Express.co.uk has contacted Disrupt J20 about the allegations and is awaiting response.
However, on their website Disrupt J20 claim they knew their someone had "infiltrated" their group and they fed them "false information".

In a statement they said: "One of these infiltrators was someone called himself 'Tyler'. Due to suspicions, the organisers initiated their vetting process with a false flag operation.
"False plans were discussed. They spoke of false plans in order to protect themselves, and did not discuss any real intentions.
"It is laughable that Project Veritas believes that organisers would discuss secret 'stink bomb' plans with an unknown individual in a public venue."
